Best of luck, Brooke!

I was so excited when Brooke Lamoureaux's mom, Cheryl, asked me to capture some images of her daughter before she headed off to compete in the FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championship in Hungary September 5-7th.

Brooke came to my little Comox studio to take a few shots first, then we moved to the Goose Spit where Brooke caught some glorious rays on her face before sunset.

As I write this post, I'm imagining the lovely, gentle-natured Brooke in a foreign country without her parents, preparing to represent Canada in a world class event; and I'm imagining her parents and how much they must be wishing they were in Hungary right now!

My wish for Brooke is that she has a positive experience and brings back the same glorious spirit that she left the Comox Valley with!  Best of luck, Brooke!

Matt & Amanda

When I think of Matt and Amanda, the first word that pops into my head is 'teeth.'  Not only because I met Amanda through our dentist's office, but because both she and Matt have the brightest, most glorious smiles that have ever graced the faces of two people!!!  Their smiles didn't just light up a room on their wedding day...they lit up an entire farm!!!

You'll see what I mean as you look through these images...

I first met up with Amanda and the girls at Velvet Underground, where Matt surprised Amanda with a special delivery; a bouquet of flowers.

Next, I made my way to the wedding site to take a few detail shots and catch up with the wedding party as they finished getting ready.

And here we have the hands of Amanda's Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandmother alongside her own.

Loved meeting the band, Boondock for the first time!

Matt and Amanda, may you always be nourished by the memory of the love and support that surrounded you on your wedding day!

Sheana and Ryan

I have photographed numerous clients in our beautiful Filberg Park, but this was the first time I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding in my favourite location!  Sheana and Ryan, who hail from Calgary, have Sheana's mom Julie to thank for organizing such a beautiful event for them.

When I think of their wedding ceremony, the simple moments stand out in my mind: the gentle way that Ryan took Sheana's hands in his, the beautiful music from the harpist, the reluctant flower girl being carried down the aisle by her mom, the look of elation on Ryan's face.  Everything flowed with such ease.   There was no drama, just love and respect.  Respect for the officiant who had multiple weddings and had to stick to a tight schedule, respect for the ring-bearer and flower-girl who needed to stick close to their moms throughout the ceremony, and most importantly, respect for each other.

I feel so fortunate to have spent time with this couple and their friends and family.  I have no doubt that they will continue to enjoy a beautiful life together.
